The naming problem

Almost every "I can't cancel Prime Student" post is really "I couldn't find the button". Amazon's label is End My Benefits, which describes what happens rather than what you are doing, and it does not match the word anybody scans for.

Once you know the phrase, it is a two-minute job. Go to your account's Prime membership settings, find the membership management area, and look for that wording.

Do these three things first

1. Spend your cash back. It expires 180 days after it is earned, needs a $5 balance to be usable at all, and cannot be spent on membership fees, gift cards or digital content. Where it lives and how to use it.
2. Check for pending deliveries. Anything relying on membership delivery speeds is worth letting land first.
3. Check your renewal date. Canceling has different consequences depending on whether you are inside the trial or on a paid membership. How to find it.

That first one is the one people regret. A balance below the $5 minimum is unusable, and canceling does nothing to release it.

The consequence nobody mentions

Canceling permanently uses up your 6-month trial. Amazon is explicit:

Read that carefully. You keep access to the discounted rate if you come back — $7.49 monthly or $69 annually — but the free months are gone for good. At the monthly rate that is 44.94 dollars of value you cannot get back.

What we cannot tell you

• Whether benefits stop immediately or at the end of the paid period. Amazon does not publish a single rule for this on the pages we track, and it can depend on where you are in a billing cycle.
• Whether you will get a partial refund. What Amazon does say about refunds.
• Exactly where the control sits in the interface today. Amazon moves account UI regularly, which is why we give you the label to search for rather than a click path that goes stale.

Before you cancel, consider the alternatives

And if the honest answer is that you do not order enough to justify it, cancel without guilt. The case for skipping it entirely is on the main page, and it is a real case.

If you are canceling because the price went up

Then the membership probably converted rather than changed price. Amazon converts the discounted membership to normal Prime at graduation, after four years on the student route, or at 25 on the age route — and the new rate is $14.99 a month.
