Why this site exists

Amazon changed this program’s name, widened its eligibility and set its price at $7.49 a month — and most of the internet has not noticed any of it. When we read the twelve pages competing for these searches, none of them mentioned that the free trial auto-renews. One of the biggest never states the price at all.

That is a strange gap for a subject with tens of thousands of monthly searches behind it. The whole point of this site is to close it: one membership, explained properly, with every figure quoted from Amazon and dated.

Who writes it

Stephen V.. Stephen V. is an enthusiast who got interested in this the ordinary way, by trying to work out whether a discount was actually a discount. He reads Amazon's own signup pages, help pages and terms, quotes them directly, and dates every check. No lab coat, no test account, no insider access.

That framing is deliberate and it is worth being explicit about. He is not a financial adviser, not a consumer-rights specialist, and has no credential relevant to this subject. What he has is a willingness to read Amazon’s actual terms pages, which turns out to be rarer than it should be — the cash-back caps and the 180-day expiry on this site came from a terms document apparently nobody else in the category has opened.

What we have not done

We have not held this membership. There is no test account, no signup we walked through and timed, no cancellation we tried. There is no editorial team, no expert panel and no test lab.

The competing field leads with exactly what we lack — credentialed finance writers, established mastheads. We cannot match that honestly and we are not going to fake it. So we compete on the one thing a brand-new site can genuinely beat an established one at: every claim here is checkable in one click. How we make money

A flat referral fee when someone signs up for a membership through a link here. Not a commission on your purchases, not a percentage of anything you spend afterwards, and nothing at all if you use the site and never click through.

The structural point worth knowing: the fee is the same whether we tell you to join or to skip it. That is why the main page carries a section on who should not sign up, and why the auto-renewal disclosure sits above the fold rather than in a footnote. Nobody pays us to be recommended, and there is no arrangement under which they could. Full disclosure.

What we cover, and what we do not

We cover: Amazon’s Prime for Young Adults membership on amazon.com — eligibility, cost, the trial, the benefits, what happens when it ends — plus the regular Prime and Prime Access rates where a comparison is genuinely useful.

We do not cover: Amazon programs outside the United States. Amazon runs different student schemes in other countries with different prices, trial lengths and rules, and restating US figures at a non-US reader would be actively misleading. Every figure here is amazon.com, in dollars.

We also do not publish things Amazon has not published. Where a question has no documented answer — how long verification review takes, which benefits are held back during the trial — we say we do not know and point at Amazon’s help page. Why we draw the line there.
