Black Friday and Cyber Monday for students, 2026
Written in September, before Amazon has announced anything. Everything below is either quoted from Amazon's own pages about last year, or is guidance that does not depend on a deal existing yet. When the 2026 deals go live, they will be posted here.
The short answer
As of September 14, 2026, Amazon has not announced its 2026 Black Friday dates — its own landing page still carries the 2025 event. What we can say from Amazon's own announcements: last year's Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday ran November 20 to December 1; Amazon named devices, electronics, PC hardware and books as its headline discounts; and the membership fee itself was quoted at its standard rates. So there is nothing to wait for on the membership — the 6-month Prime for Young Adults trial is free now, and six months started now cover the October event, Black Friday and the January textbook season.

Deals will be posted on this page when Amazon publishes them in November 2026. Until then there are no 2026 deals here, no predicted prices, and no invented percentages. Every figure below is a past event's headline claim, quoted from Amazon and dated, or one of the membership's published rates.
What Amazon published about last year
The most reliable guide to what Amazon discounts is what Amazon said it discounted. From its own 2025 announcement:

The categories Amazon named were home, electronics, beauty, apparel. Two things it did not name anywhere in either announcement: textbooks, and any discount on a Prime membership fee. That absence is the most useful fact on this page for a student.
What historically discounts, and what rarely does
One prior year of Amazon's own announcements is thin evidence, and this page says so rather than dressing it up. Read the table as "what Amazon chose to headline last year", not as a rule:

Before November there is a second members-only event, and Amazon has now dated it: Prime Big Deal Days, October 6-7, 2026. The October event, for students covers the times, the young-adult trial and the cash-back stack.

This site does not track product prices — it is about the membership, and these are the only figures it publishes. Every one is read off an Amazon-owned page and dated; how they are checked.

The event-day benefits a member actually gets
Membership does not lower a Black Friday price. It changes access and timing, and Amazon puts numbers on two of those:
- Lightning Deals, 30 minutes early. Amazon's wording: "Access Lightning Deals on Amazon.com 30 minutes early" Worth a lot on a limited-stock deal and nothing on one that does not sell out. The thirty-minute head start.
- The October event is members-only. Amazon's 2025 Prime Big Deal Days ran October 7-8, 2025, and Amazon said: "This is a Prime member-exclusive event, so customers will want to join Prime now." Its own announcement pointed 18-24 year-olds at the six-month $0 trial. Whether and when a 2026 October event runs has not been announced as of September 14, 2026.
- Cash back on the sale price. 5% in Beauty, Apparel, Electronics, Personal Care, Personal Computers, calculated on the final price after discounts — so it stacks on an event price. Capped at $100 per purchase, $500 a year, and it expires after 180 days. What stacks with the membership.
How to prepare, from Amazon and from us
Amazon's own advice ahead of its 2025 event: "Customers can also prepare for Black Friday and ensure they don't miss out deals by adding items to their lists, cart, or save for later." That is also the only method that reliably saves money at a sale event, and the site's Prime Day guide says why: write the list before the event, with the price you would consider good for each item, and buy only from the list. The event is designed to work the other way round.
Reading a discount honestly means ignoring the percentage and the crossed-out figure, and comparing the actual price to what you have seen the item at before. Countdown timers are a feature of the interface. Amazon also mentioned deal notifications through Alexa+ in 2025; Alexa+ and the membership covers what that benefit is.
If you are buying for a student, not as one
The gift guides are organized for the person who does not follow this category: gifts for college students by budget, and the recipient pages for a first-year, a high-school senior, a graduate and when you have no budget. The one-line summary: give the money rather than the laptop, and tell them the free six months exist.

Is Prime Student discounted on Black Friday?
We found no Amazon-published Black Friday discount on any Prime plan. In its 2025 announcement Amazon quoted the standard rates: regular Prime at $14.99 or $139, and the young-adult membership at $7.49 or $69 after a six-month $0 trial. The trial is the discount, and it is available now.
Should a student wait for Black Friday to buy a laptop?
Only if the laptop can wait. Amazon headlined PC hardware in its 2025 announcement, and the 5% member cash back on Personal Computers is calculated on the final sale price, so the two stack. A machine needed for this term is not cheaper in November if it costs eight weeks of the term.
Do Prime Student members get early access to Black Friday deals?
Amazon's 2025 Black Friday announcement did not mention early access. What Amazon does publish is 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals for Prime members, and that the October Prime Big Deal Days event is members-only. Young-adult members get full Prime benefits.
Does the 5% cash back apply to Black Friday prices?
Amazon says cash back is calculated on the final price after any discounts, so yes, in the five categories (Beauty, Apparel, Electronics, Personal Care, Personal Computers), capped at $100 per purchase and $500 a year. It expires 180 days after it is earned.
Are Black Friday textbook deals a thing on Amazon?
Textbooks were not named in either of Amazon's 2025 event announcements. Textbook savings on Amazon come from the used and rental marketplace all year, and timing follows the syllabus, not the sale calendar.
