What Amazon publishes about Prime Video

Three entries, and live sport is one of them. The other two matter here because they decide whether the video benefit as a whole justifies anything.

That last row is the one that trips people. If the sport you want sits behind a Prime Video channel, you are paying a separate subscription fee on top of the membership, discounted or not. The included sport and the channel sport look identical in the app and cost very different amounts.

Check this before you pay for a sports subscription

1. Name the specific competition you want to watch. "Sport" is not a checkable requirement.
2. Search it in Prime Video while signed in to the account carrying the membership.
3. Look at whether the result is included or sits behind a channel subscription. The app labels this, and the label is the whole answer.
4. Only then price a standalone service. Paying twice for the same fixtures is the failure mode this check exists to prevent.

For a student, the honest framing is that live sport is rarely the benefit that justifies a membership on its own — delivery usually is — but it is very often the benefit that makes a second subscription unnecessary. Those are different arguments and only the second one saves money.
